BILIRUBIN TOTAL

Bilirubin is attached by the liver to glucuronic acid, a glucose-derived acid is called direct bilirubin. A bilirubin that is not attached to glucuronic acid is called indirect bilirubin. All the bilirubin in your blood all together is called total bilirubin.

Higher than normal levels of bilirubin may reveal different types of liver problems.

Few common tests that might be done at the same time as bilirubin testing include:

- Liver function tests
