HEPTIC FUNCTION TEST

Hepatic Function Panel tests (also known as a liver panel) are blood tests that measure different enzymes, proteins, and other substances made by the liver. These tests check the overall health of our liver.

WHY SHOULD I GET TESTED?

To screen, detect, evaluate, and monitor acute and chronic liver inflammation (hepatitis), liver infection, liver disease and/or and damage

WHEN SHOULD I GET TESTED?

Periodically to evaluate liver function; whenever you are at risk for liver injury; when you are taking medications that may affect our liver; when you have a liver disease; when you have symptoms associated with liver damage, such as jaundice

  • ALT (alanine transaminase)
  • AST (aspartate aminotransferase), and
  • GGT (gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase)
