A renal panel is a combination of tests that may be performed together to measure your kidney (renal) function. The tests measure levels of different substances, including several minerals, electrolytes, proteins, and glucose (sugar), in the blood to determine the current health of your kidneys.
For screening and monitoring those at risk of developing kidney disease and for the diagnostic and management of conditions affecting kidney function.
Testing should be done if you have certain risk factors for kidney disease (e.g. high blood pressure, diabetes) or if there are symptoms present that are suggesting a condition that could affect your kidneys’ function. If you are being treated for kidney disease, tests are used to monitor the effectiveness of treating the disease.
